Two Washoe County businesses are expanding their operations and have received financial incentives from the Nevada Commission on Economic Development.
The two companies are among five which have been awarded more than $200,000 in incentives from NCED:
American Salvage Inc. is a joint venture between two Northern Nevada businesses
-- mobile scrap metal processor American Salvage and metal salvage yard
Sunshine Truck Scales and Recycling. American Salvage accepts all recyclable
metal goods.
The recycling keeps these metals out of Northern Nevada's open spaces and minimizes landfill costs, company officials said. The company also provides scrap-metal processing at off-site locations with its mobile equipment.
With its recent growth, American Salvage has needed to expand its facility and acquire new equipment. The expansion will create six primary new jobs for the region.
Founded in 1999 in North Carolina, Pro Line Printing exclusively services the newspaper insert advertising needs of national and regional retailers. In less than five years, the company has grown from one press to 17 in four plants across the country, including one in Reno that was opened in 2004.
To continue adequately servicing its clients, the company will expand and open a new press line in Reno. This new press will create 24 new jobs.
"Our expansion represents a long-term commitment to the Nevada market," said President Gerald Pfister. "We greatly value the assistance received from NCED and look forward to becoming a larger part of the success of the state."
Also receiving incentives are three new companies coming to Southern Nevada. Peter Lik USA Inc., SC Circuits Inc. and Powered by Renewables of Nevada -- along with SunEdison -- will bring their business to Clark County.
