Reva International to invest $2.5 million in Reno plant

Reva International Ltd. said last week it will invest an additional $2.25 million to increase the manufacturing capacity of its new facility in Reno.

The maker of high-intensity illumination projects recently moved into a 60,000-square-foot plant at 4855 Longley Lane, investing $1 million for specialized manufacturing equipment when it relocated.

The new investment in equipment results from recent strong sales, said Tillman W. Frick, chief operating officer of Reva International Ltd.

Employment at the facility, currently about 30, is expected to grow to more than 50 by year-end, said a spokesman for the company. The current expansion will add 18 skilled manufacturing positions.

Reva International Ltd. makes high-intensity searchlights and digital flares for U.S. and allied military forces. In 2004, the U.S. Congress, at the request of Nevada Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign, appropriated $3.4 million to Reva's searchlights for troops.

The privately held company also produces high-intensity illumination products for law enforcement personnel, federal agencies and commercial markets.
