Winnemucca
Municipal Golf Course
This course was built on relatively hilly terrain and has wide-open fairways.
Water does not come into play unless the sprinklers break. Every hole on
the course has its own unique characteristics. A good round of golf can
be experienced on this course.
Humboldt Historical Museum
Ideally situated overlooking the crossing on the Humboldt River where the
town of Winnemucca originated, the Humboldt Museum is becoming a fully functional
repository for historical data under one roof.

This desert lies west and slightly north of Winnemucca in Humboldt and Pershing
counties. Its historical importance lies in the Fremont, Applegate-Lassen
and Nobles routes through the area.
Winnemucca Mountain
Named for Paiute Chief, Winnemucca, this mountain rises about 4,000 ft.
above the valley floor making it the town's most prominent real estate.
It was first prized for its treasures of gold, silver, and lead. The mountains
greatest, most lasting gift is the annual spring show of wildflowers, the
variety rivals anything in the sagebrush steppe, and many people wander
along the roads in the springtime to enjoy this experience. Photographers
take advantage of the 360-degree view from the top of the mountain for pictures
of the Humboldt Black Rock Desert and the sand dunes.
Camping
Camping is available at Lye Creek, Rye Patch Reservoir, and Water Canyon.
Game and Bird Hunting
Some of the game include: Mule Deer, Elk, Antelope, Bighorn Sheep, Rocky

Rosa Mountain range between Paradise and Orovada. Trails vary in length
from one to ten miles at elevations of 4400 feet to 8200 feet. The best
season for travel is June through October. These remote trails offer solitude,
wildflowers, and wildlife.

Recreational panning which does not involve mechanical equipment is permitted
in wilderness and wilderness study areas if it does not create surface disturbances
or impair the environment. Gemstones and common rock specimens may be collected
for private use on unclaimed sites. Collecting of prehistoric tools and
